Kalari kari is a traditional kayalpatnam recipe from coastal side of South India
Kalarikari is prepared by cooking mutton with the spices and adding coconut milk at last. This curry is delicious and creamy and famous in kayalpatnam region.
Ingredients:
Coconut oil- 3 tbsp
Ghee - 2 tbsp
Cinnamon -2 stick
Cardamom -3
Clove -3
Green chilli -2
Shallots- 1 cup (chopped)
Ginger garlic paste -2 tbsp
Curd - 1/2 cup
Mutton - 500 gms
Curry leaves - one handful
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Chilli powder - 1 tsp
Jeera powder - 1 tsp
Fennel seeds powder - 1 tsp
Coconut milk - 1 cup
Salt - 1 tbsp
Preparation:
1. Heat oil and ghee in a pressure cooker, add whole spices into it.
2. Then add shallots, green chilli and ginger garlic paste. Saute it till the onion turns golden brown.
3. Now add mutton pieces and curd into it.
4. Add curry leaves and saute it for a minute. The curd will mix with masala and leaves oil.
5. Add all the spices turmeric, chilli, jeera and fennel seeds powder.
6. Add the spices depends on ur spice level . I have added mildly.
7. Give a gud mix once the masala coated well with the mutton. Add water and salt , Pressure cook for 5 whistles
8. Once the pressure releases, add the coconut milk and simmer for 5 minutes.
9. Garnish with curry leaves and serve hot.
10. It tastes yum with ghee rice, paratha, idiyappam, idli and dosa.
