Jeera Rice (Cumin Rice) Recipe - a Jeera flavored rice with aromatic flavours.
Jeera Rice
Jeera rice is a one pot meal prepared by using jeera ghee and whole spices to enhance the flavour of the dish.
Here am using shahi jeera for the strong flavour. Jeera had many nutritional benefits and good for digestion too. You can also use leftover rice to make this . Jeera rice tastes yum with all restaurant style curries.
Ingredients:
Basmati Rice- 1 cup
Onion - 1/2 cup (thinly sliced)
Ghee- 2 tbsp
Cinnamon- 2 pieces
Clove- 3
Cardamom- 3
Shahi jeera - 2 tsp
Green chilli- 1
Water - 2 cups
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Preparation:
1. Wash and soak Basmati rice for 30 mins . Drain and keep it aside.
2. In a pot, add Ghee den the whole spices like cinnamon, clove, cardamom, Bay leaf, and jeera seeds
3. Let them roast well until jeera smells aromatic and onion turns golden brown.
4. Add green chilli and drained Basmati rice. Saute it for 2 mins. Den add water
5. Add salt and let it cook. Since i cook in pot I have added 2 cups of water. If you are using pressure cooker, add 1 1/2 cup and pressure cook.
6. Keeps check the rice and once ready the jeera rice should be fluffy and you can add ghee now.
7. Serve hot with any curry or Dal.
